AIR-FLOWING® is EMS's term for the clinical technique of biofilm removal using the AIRFLOW® system and PLUS Powder. While traditional air polishing uses high-abrasive powders primarily for supragingival stain removal, AIR-FLOWING® with PLUS powder operates at 14 µm — fine enough for supra- and subgingival use on enamel, dentin, soft tissue, restorations, implants, and orthodontic appliances. It is the cornerstone of Guided Biofilm Therapy and replaces rubber-cup polishing and routine hand instrumentation for biofilm control.

Yes, for children aged 2 and above when EMS use recommendations are followed. For pediatric patients, only AIRFLOW® PERIO and AIRFLOW® PLUS powders are recommended — not CLASSIC COMFORT or other higher-abrasion options.

Yes. AIRFLOW® PLUS is suitable for children (2+), adults, geriatric patients, orthodontic cases, periodontal maintenance, peri-implant disease, caries-active patients, and medically compromised individuals. It covers approximately 90% of all AIRFLOW® clinical indications.

No. When used with 100% water as EMS recommends, AIRFLOW® PLUS residues are fully flushed from periodontal pockets. In the unlikely event any residue remains, the powder is fully biocompatible and does not cause tissue harm.
